I was born in 1968 in a little border town near the tip of Texas, and although it may be small in population, its grand in name. Roma is the neighbor city to Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, Mexico. To get from one town to the other, just cross the bridge that towers above the Rio Grande, and visit another culture of its own.
I was raised in Miguel Aleman until the age of ten or so. I recall the endless visits to my father's ranch. My mother's picnic basket (now perched above my computer armoire )filled with saltine crackers, avocadoes and sardines. The "Jaripeos" (rodeos), the marching horses, the tremondous bulls and the traditional costumes worn by beautiful Mexican women. I have no doubt my childhood is my biggest influence.
At the age of ten, the revelation of having, if not talent, at least the ability to see and transcribe the forms around me began. From 1979 - 1980 I began my first art studies in Cuidad Mier, Tamaulipas. I completed eleven oil paintings by the age of eleven and participated in my first art show by the age of thirteen. I've won several awards, participated in over twenty art shows, and have sold work throughout the United States and Mexico.

My biggest Fan passed away July 18, 2007. In 1978 he discovered that this little girl had a talent for drawing and maybe something could come out of it. We took a 20 minute drive to Mexico every other Saturday for two years. Over 10 paintings were completed by the time I was twelve. My Fan was shinning with pride and never missed an opportunity to show me off. Everytime he introduced me to anyone, he'ld say "she's an artist, she can paint anything you want, go ahead give them your business card". During my art shows, he would grab a stack of my cards and hand them to other artists. I was always embarrassed by this particular action, but I didn't think I would ever miss it as much as I miss it now.
I will miss him...My Dad, Albar Artemio Hinojosa.

I will trashing the Rio Grande on Saturday! In an effort to create awareness about the problems with environmental pollution, I will be creating a mural of the Rio Grande made out of trash. The public is invited to bring their recycled materials; such as plastics, alumninum, etc. and add to the cooperative mural, happily named,
"Sub-trash the Rio Grande".
Rally Against Pollution "RAP" this Saturday, August 27, 2005 in Archer Park, McAllen Texas.
*Post-Note: We succesfully served the event during one of the Valley's hottest days. Over 100 participants, mostly children, helped to create the "Sub-trash the Rio Grande Mural #1". Two boys in particular were excited about the fact that trash can equal to art. They scurried around the park picking up trash,(we ran out at our booth)to continue building the 3-D mural. Please view one of the photos in the gallery. Thanks to everyone that came out to support us.
